- From a long time fan, not a new one...
From the words of a long time fan of New Found Glory, back to their It's All About The Girls EP (and the original one, not the new one that they re-released,) I can say that I honestly love this CD. When I first heard it, I thought that Nothing Gold Can Stay was better, but after a few more listens, I wasn't so sure. This CD seems overproduced for a punk band, but it works well. It just sounds different in comparison to their old stuff. Just listen to both versions of Hit or Miss and you'll understand. I can honestly say that I love absolutely every song on this CD and I listen to it from beginning to end every time. It shows no signs of aging, which is an accomplishment since I bought it the day it was released. Songs that will stand out are Better Off Dead, Dressed to Kill (probably the next single,) Hit or Miss, Eyesore, Black and Blue, Boy Crazy (should be the next single,) and Ballad For The Lost Romantics. I like to end my reviews by saying that if you like this CD, but are only aware of punk music as being Blink 182, Fenix TX, Sum 41, etc., I reccomend that you check out some other amazing punk rock acts. I'm not saying that Blink and them are bad, just that there's others out there: Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, Green Day, NoFX, The Ataris, The Movielife, Midtown, Reel Big Fish, and Less Than Jake are sure to impress you.

- The best in recent pop-punk.
Yes, even better than MxPx's "The Everpassing Moment". It's THAT good. Every song makes you want to get up, jump around, and sing alone. It's just flat-out catchy. Many songs off of this record will etch a place in your mind for a week or two. "Better Off Dead" and "Boy Crazy" did that to me. After the totally amazing "Nothing Gold Can Stay" (my punk album of the year), the boys went a little bit poppier this time around, but not to the point of, say, Blink-182 or Green Day. They kept it to their own limit, which is perfect. They kept their infectious hooks with lead singer Jordan's amazing, but weird at times, voice. Jordan can hit the high notes, but his voice comes out sounding "electronicized", if you will, like it was sent through a synthesizer or something, like on the new version of "Hit Or Miss". The new version is good, a little rawer, but I still prefer the original. Every song on this album is good, some weaker than others, but still good in their own respect. The best tracks here are "Better Off Dead", "Sincerely Me" (a VERY clever song), "Eyesore", a slower, more mid-tempo song, "Sucker", and "All About Me". "Sincerely Me" has a killer bass line, perfectly played by bassist Ian, and "Dressed To Kill" has some excellent lyrics. If you liked "NGCS" or "From The Screen To Your Stereo", you'd better pick this is pronto. Same with all of you punk fans.

- Pop/Punk Bliss
New Found Glory are no strangers to the well-tested, bubble-gum punk formula - catchy lyrics, great melodies, quick tempo changes, and energetic live performances. Following this model laid down by its elders (NOFX, Lagwagon, MXPX) there's no way this album could suck. And trust, while me this album does many things, suck is not one of them.

The album starts with the impact of a head-on collision. The listener is instantly enveloped in the cd and the next 15 minutes are are pure punk bliss, finally coming to an end with the anthemic "Eyesore." However, this is only the first half of the album.

In my opinion, after "Eyesore" the album loses a little energy, and transgresses from good emo/punk to more of a sappy, MXPX vibe. The songs are still quite good, I just have issues with lyrics like "Tell me about your first kiss..." But then again, everyone's a critic so take my comments for what they're worth.

These guys have a lot of heart, and they put a lot of themselves on the line with their music. Buy the cd, it's awesome and definitely go see them live, they're a great live band.

- New Found Glory=Cool Music
1) Better Off Dead: Good intro. song for the album; steady beat; good lyrics and easy to sing along to! 9/10

2) Dressed to Kill: Not the best, the lyrics were whiney and kind of annoying after a while. Pretty good musically though (guitars) 5/10

3) Sincerely Me: Much better than Dressed to Kill-it picks back up here. Good song. 7.5/10

4) Hit or Miss: I LOVE this song! Awesome music, awesome lyrics. One of my favorite songs, not just on this album-one of my favorites in general. 10/10

5) Second to Last: Lots of energy & good beats. This one is pretty cool. 8/10

6) Eyesore: This song really kicks some ass. From the beginning to the end, it's great. Somewhat more mellow than the first 5. 10/10

7) Vegas: OMG this song rocks. This is right up there with Eyesore and Hit or Miss. Just listen to it, it's awesome. 10/10

8) Sucker: Eh. This song isn't BAD, it just kind of gets boring after the first chorus. Don't listen to it too much, cuz it kinda gets old fast. 5.5/10

9) Black + Blue: This song starts out ok, but it gets better and better as the song goes on. Not bad at all. 7/10

10) Boy Crazy: This song is funny, but the lyrics sound like something a boy band would sing. Good entertainment though.
7/10

11) All About Her: I like this song. The music and lyrics just seem to fit together really good. Rock on. 8.5/10

12) Ballad for the Lost Romantics: This is a cool one. Good song to close the CD with. 7.75/10

OVERALL-If I could give this CD 4 and a half stars, I would, becaue this CD and this band definately deserve it. They could really be a big hit musically now that punk/pop is getting big. Check out NFG's earlier stuff too. This CD is well worth your money, so go pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

- These guys know how pop/punk is done
Now this is what I'm talkin about. New Found Glory has really grown on me since my review for Sticks and Stones, which now gets five stars from me. I'm sure this will to over time, it hasn't quite settled in yet. If you enjoyed Sticks and Stones, I highly doubt you'll be disappointed in this. Despite chronological order, think of this album as Sticks and Stones part 2, and you'll have a good idea of what this is like. One thing I wasn't too thrilled about was the short CD length - 36 minutes, but it's really no big deal. There's a slightly more polished in S&S as compared to this album, which I happen to like, but it's hardly noticeable to tell you the truth. The energy and catchiness of the pop aspect teamed with the foot-stomping punk flavors always makes for a great listen. Another thing is you can actually hear Ian more often in this CD than in Sticks and Stones, and Ian's the man, so that's definitely a good thing. He really could've lit up S&S a little more if he had actually plugged in his bass, I think he's a pretty good bassist.

And I mean sure NFG doesn't have the most complex chords and leads, but it's gonna be ok, music isn't a contest to see who can play the trickiest chords or the fastest solo. Besides when you use open or elaborate chords with heavy distortion like that it sounds muddy. Save the embellished chords for acoustics and clean electric or light distortion. Power chords add that bite that makes pop/punk so punchy. Pop/punk is a simplistic style of music and taken for what it is, these guys are great at what they do. The back cover shot of this CD expresses their music perfectly - these guys have serious energy. I've alwasy loved that metallish chugging sound the guitars have in this band that I haven't really heard in other pop/punk bands. Very well done guys. *thumbs up*
