Neil Young: Change Your Mind UNRELEASED part II see pt I 1st

Part II Change your mind. "Sleeps With Angels is a 1994 album by Neil Young and Crazy Horse released on the Warner Bros. Records/Reprise label. The album was conceived as a conscious attempt to recapture some of the atmospheric experiments Young and Crazy Horse played around with in the After the Gold Rush era. Though the majority of the album was recorded before the fact, Young created the title track after the death of Kurt Cobain, who quoted him in his suicide note. As a result, Sleeps With Angels ended up more than reminiscent of Tonight's the Night; the album is practically a (more sober) 1990s update of the former record, down to the use of the old-school black Reprise label found on original vinyl pressings of Tonight's the Night and the US cd version of Sleeps With Angels. The tone of the album is dark and brooding, the one exception being the punk-influenced "Piece Of Crap". Interestingly, two songs ("Western Hero" and "Train Of Love") feature the same music just with different lyrics. [edit] Track listing All tracks by Neil Young, except where noted: "My Heart" -- 2:44 "Prime of Life" -- 4:02 "Driveby" -- 4:43 "Sleeps With Angels" -- 2:44 "Western Hero" -- 4:00 "Change Your Mind" -- 14:39 "Blue Eden" (Molina/Sampedro/Talbot/Young) -- 6:22 "Safeway Cart" -- 6:29 "Train of Love" -- 3:57 "Trans Am" -- 4:07 "Piece of Crap" -- 3:15 "A Dream That Can Last" -- 5:27" ..."Sleeps with Angels is that kind of album--and yet it's one of his best. Jarred by the death of Kurt Cobain (the rock & roll martyr quoted Young in his suicide note), he dashed off this collection of songs in 1994 with backing from his steadfast electric warriors, Crazy Horse. At least two songs--the title track and "Change Your Mind"--seem to directly refer to Cobain. Others--"Driveby" and "Safeway Cart" among the most striking--are mesmerizing and gloomy. Still others--"Piece of Crap," "Blue Eden"--are raw and cutting. Goes to show an elegy, no matter how somber, needn't be a hushed affair. --Steven Stolder"
