Many thought that pop balladeer Michael Bolton's personal transformation ended when he lopped off his shoulder-length hair and released 1998's My Secret Passion, an album of operatic arias. But his first record of new material in four years shows that the boomer pinup boy has continued his metamorphosis. Signed to Jive Records, the label that spawned the careers of Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, Bolton enlists the services of Swedish pop Svengali Max Martin, the man who penned Spears's "Oops!... I Did It Again" and the Backstreet Boys' "Shape of My Heart." Superstar producer Mutt Lange wrote the title track and manned the boards, while Lange's spouse, Shania Twain, and Richard Marx made writing contributions. As a result, Bolton has ended up with a pop confection that could top a cake. Ardent, heartfelt, and as transparent as a bride's peignoir, Only a Woman Like You for the most part shows the singer at his very best. Like a hero lifted out of the pages of a Harlequin romance novel, Bolton whispers sweet nothings with every breath he takes. While most of the album sticks tight to a tried-and-true formula of impassioned protestations of undying devotion, Bolton takes a left turn into the boy-band zone with the Latin-tinged "Dance with Me," sounding like an aging Backstreet Boy backed by breaks and rhythms that just beg to be choreographed. - Even a MichaelBolton Basher could LOVE this CDIt seems like everyone puts down Michael Bolton.I was watching a movie yesterday,and they were making jokes about this,"No Talented,Grammy award winning artist."I don't get it!!Just listen to his newest CD,"Only A Woman Like You," ONCE,and you will CHANGE YOUR MIND.The first single,"Only a Woman like you," co-written by Shania Twain,is my all time favorite song by Michael.I love the Orchestration,and the fantastic key changes.The first track,"Dance With Me," would be the next single I WOULD RELEASE.This great Spanish,Marc Anthony style number could be tearing up the dance floors this summer if it gets some air play.Track number 2,"I Wanna Hear you say it," is my second favorite cut.It just moves like a wave in the ocean."All that you Deserve"is a heart breaker,just like "How Am I suppose to live with out you,"(Written by Michael) teared you up inside.This is a GREAT CD,and its already going down the charts in Billboard(129,after peaking at 36)All I can say is EVEN A MICHAEL BOLTON BASHER COULD LOVE THIS CD.

- He is the Man!I listen to Michael every day. Seriously! I come home after 10 hours of workday, and want to just wind down! He does that for me. I have several CD's and have downloaded countless artist's music, but I always place Michael's in my player. He is truly one of the best....I especially love his Vintage CD. - What a voice!!!!!Michael Bolton is the only singer I know who can make me get goose bumps all over from listening to his voice. The title track Only a women is a perfect ballot. I heard it on the Lifetime network and decided to buy it right away. Its great. especially if you do alot of driving!. Michael is back with that super voice, alot of emotions and handsome as ever!

- Great songs for a great singerNot only does Michael sing great love songs he also adds different types of genres. Some have a pop feel and some are a latin sound. It's a shame the album didn't do much in the states. The big problem, I think, was his new record label Jive. Jive focuses on young artists ,therefore, leaving Michael at the bottom of the list for promotion. I am so surprised Clive Davis didn't grab him on his new label J. Records.

- Mainstream!?so what!!!I always found it strange that when you say in the U.S you like Michael Bolton people react like you're retareded.
I'm from The Netherlands and although he's not as famous here as in the rest of the world,his music is very much respected,not only by music buyers but also by Ducth recording artists,for example RENE FROGER wich is one of Hollands best selling singers recorded two Bolton tracks on his 1990 album "Midnight Man" the songs were "I almost believed you" and specialy written by Bolton for Froger "Am i dreaming" . But i now understand why some people in the states react this way about Bolton,its the same here in Holland with Rene Froger,they are very main stream and sold a lot of records and sell out major concerts,we'll i don't mind because i'm as mainstream as every other normal Dutch,American,German or where ever guy,i'm a security guard,i watch Stallone movies,i drive a Nissan,and i like prime time sitcoms and i also like to play Michael Bolton cd's on my Sony cd player in my average appartment.
And all i want to say to those who find that's boring is:
"SO I'M MAINSTREAM! SO WHAT!!!!
