- The true beginning of Meat Loaf's comback.
When Meat Loaf split with Jim Steinman, the man who wrote all the songs for two fantastic albums (Bat out of Hell, over 35 million copies sold, end of ad, and Dead Ringer, the 'failure' that 'only' sold 6 million or so), fans thought it was over, and with good reason. Meat's first non-Steinman effort, Midnight at the Lost and Found, is easily the Loaf's worst effort and a flat out poor record. Bad Attitude, released only a year later, didn't exactly have high expectations.

Suprisingly, this is a good album, the best of Meat's non-Jim collaborations (There are two Steinman penned songs, but he was absent from the studio). The sound is revitalized and very 80's rockish, unlike the flat rockabilly tone of Midnight... . Meat's 80's band, the Neverland Express, does a fantastic job at attempting to capture the bombast and spirit of Steinman's music.

The Steinman tunes (Surf's Up and Nowhere Fast) are the best on the album, but non-Jim songs like Sailor to a Siren, Peice of the Action, Don't Leave your Mark on Me, and Modern Girl are all great songs, the latter two were big hits in the UK, but forgotten stateside. The title track opens the album off with a bang, and 'Cheatin in your dreams' the closer, ends it with a harsh infidelity tune that nonetheless rocks.

Bad Attitude is a must-have for any Meat Loaf fan's collection, simply because it's the best of his non-Steinman efforts.

- The Attitude is Bad, But the Music is Great!
Meatloaf has had more than one comeback in his career, but this was the beginning (1984) of the comeback in 1993 that produced Bat 2.

Though only 2 of the songs are written by Steinman, most of them have his "style" and I would have sworm they were written by him.

The album features the beautiful ballad "Surfs Up", Piece of the Action", and Sailor to A Siren" among others. Only one, "Modern Girl" appeared on his 1998 "Best Of" album, so this is one of Meatloaf's best secrets.

Four and a half stars would better describe it, but it still is nearly as good as, or EVEN AS GOOD AS any of Meat's other albums.

- Undiscovered Gem
This album is clearly the undiscovered gem of all the Meatloaf albums. Easily as good as the original 'Bat Out of Hell' album. And it puts to rest the arguement that Meat's music lost it's edge after he & Jim Steinman parted. Although there are a couple of Steinman songs on this album as well. This collection has it all. Blood pumping rockers, thoughtful ballads, mellow rock & roll, and every tune a killer. Meat Loaf has always been biker music at it's best. You can almost feel the wind in your hair just listening. I discovered Meatloaf about the time I discovered Harley Davidson and the two were made for each other. I had to have a CD player installed on my bike to play my MeatLoaf as I rode. The beat of the music and rumble of the road sync. Ya don't haveta say more. Tracks #1, #2, #3 are the best of the album but it's all good. If you're a MeatLoaf fan and don't already have this album, BUY IT!

- unknown masterpiece
Bat attitude a unknow meatloaf masterpiece that's what the album is Jim steinman is absent here but i haven't miss him his theatral overblown wagnerian sound (nothing wrong with that) has make place for a pretty powerfull 80's rock tune
meat doesn't always need Jim Steinman to make a good album althoug 2 songs are written by him the sound is very different than the real steiman productions it's more powerfull more rock meat sounds more like other real rockers like bryan adams Van halen or Def leppard. the playing time is pretty short wich are most meat albums of the beginning shorter than 40 minutes
let's tell you about some songs
BAD ATTITUDE the best meatloaf title song since bat out of hell
MODERN GIRL one of my meat favourites
NOWHERE FAST written by steinman a song that keep rocking
SURFS'S UP a more powerfull version of a steinman song
SAILOR TO A SIREN a worhty album closer
if you are a real meatloaf fan than check this album
