Review - Amazon.com :
This collection of rare and previously unreleased Gaye performances originally appeared in 1994; augmented by several bonus tracks, it's now part of Motown's Lost and Found series. While the selection of album cuts and B-sides on the earlier Seek and You Shall Find is touched with genius, Love Starved Heart's effectiveness is frequently hampered by lackluster material. This isn't a bad disc; the star does his best with the likes of "You're a Son of a Gun." Gaye aficionados who don't already own the disc will appreciate having it back in print, and even casual fans should hear "Dark Side of the World," a neglected gem from the "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" era. But for the most part, this isn't essential Marvin. --Rickey Wright Customer review - 1999-10-19
- A Must-Have CDJust great, great songs. Essential if you're more than a casual Gaye fan. Unfathomable these have been unreleased until now.

- COULDA BEEN/SHOULDA BEEN HITSTHE BOOK THAT ACCOMPANIES THIS COLLECTION TELLS US THAT WITH THE CONTSTANT RECORDING THAT WENT ON AT MOTOWN, THERE WAS SIMPLY AN OVERABUNDANCE OF MATERIAL ON HAND. SO, WE FANS OF MARVIN GAYE ARE THE WINNERS WITH THIS COLLECTION OF UNRELEASED GEMS. LISTENING TO THIS, IT'S TRULY UNFATHOMABLE THE SKILL AND RANGE THAT MARVIN POSSESSED. AMAZING TOO, IS THE SKILL MOTOWN HAD IN ITS WRITERS AND PRODUCERS; IVY JOE HUNTER PROVIDES MARVIN WITH SOME OF THE MOST HEART-WRENCHING SONGS EVER: LISTEN TO "I CAN'T HELP IT (I LOVE YOU SO.) THEN, TO LIGHTEN THE MOOD (A LITTLE), PLAY "SAD SOUVENIRS." SMOKEY ROBINSON PROVIDES THE GEM "BABY I'M GLAD THAT THINGS WORKED OUT SO WELL." MARVIN TRULY WAS THE PRINCE OF MOTOWN, AND YOU'LL BE SOLD WITH ONE LISTEN OF THIS CD!

- Beautiful voice and great CDA great work of Marvin Gaye. A lot of his early work that has previously never been released. Sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Highlights Marvins beautiful voice which is one of the best ever. I highly recommend this album. Over 25 songs.

- Motown + Marvin = Marvelous!Forget trying to understand why these songs were not previously released - the fact that these great songs can now be enjoyed is all that matters! I thank Motown from the bottom of my soul for this compilation.

- Give me more Marvin!Again, Marvin proves to be a great artist! You can tell from these recordings that he was going places and beyond expectation. Some of these recordings, like "Baby I'm Glad That Things Worked Out So Well" were on the Motown Masters release, which came out sometime in the mid-80s. But, this version is far better than the Motown Masters release.
