The 20th Century Masters series is the best-selling single-artist line in music history and is being re-released by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) in its ground-breaking, environmentally-friendly packaging format. A first for the music industry, the standard package (both sleeve and tray) will be completely paper-recyclable, continuing the company's long-standing commitment to being "green."

To further reduce the amount of paper in the Eco-Pack, the CD booklet will no longer be offered. Official liner notes are easily accessible on the Internet at http://www.ilovethatsong.com/green.

UMe is the first North American music company to replace the traditional jewel case with recycled paperboard sleeves and the plastic tray with trays made from PaperFoam®, a new packaging technology from Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, that is paper-recyclable and biodegradable. Shorewood Packaging is the first North American packaging supplier to produce disc trays from PaperFoam®.
Review - Amazon.com :
Marvin Gaye's 1970s recordings reflected his growing awareness of social issues--"What's Going On," "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)," "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)"--coupled with a freewheeling sexuality ("Let's Get It On," "Come Get to This," "I Want You"). On both counts, Gaye was out in front of the times, and helped shape the discussion during that turbulent time. This set does a good job of briefly limning the highlights of Gaye's '70s work; coupled with the 20th Century Masters companion volume of his '60s hits, it gives a fair if less than definitive overview of one of pop's most prolific and important hitmakers. --Daniel Durchholz

- There are better compilations for the money
The songs here all great examples of Marvin Gaye's later material. Unfortunately there are other single and double disc compilations that include more later material and some of his fantastic early recordings as well. For the money, buy a copy of the 2001 "Very Best of" double CD which contains the best of his Motown recordings as well as music released on Columbia in the later years. The songs here are great but will leave you wanting more (there's no "Sexual Healing"). Save a few bucks more and buy the "Very Best Of" new or used. You can build your collection from there.

- Nice compilation of a soul legend!
These without a doubt are some classic recordings by Marvin, but the only reason i can possibly see me or anyone else copping this greatest hits collection would be strictly for the title song "My last Chance", due to the fact that it does not exist on any other of his greatest hits or anthology collections, which i think is somewhat sad. That song along with the live version of the "Star Spangled Banner" from the 1983 Nba all star game should be on at least two greatest hits collections.

- Good Sampler, But It Makes Me Wanna Holla...
...it has MPG's masterworks, "What's Goin' On", "Trouble Man", "Let's Get It On", "I Want You" and a treat in the Marvin & Diana cut "You're A Special Part of Me", but they were done in a compilation somewheres already and done better. Good for the 1st time Marv fan, but other than that stick to the Original albums produced by Motown and Columbia records.

- Very Happy!
I've always been a Marvin Gaye fan. There were two songs by him that I didn't own, and now that I own them my collection is complete.
