- Madonna's Best Tongue In Cheek SongIn August 1995, Madonna released the fourth and final single from her album, Bedtime Stories. The song was Human Nature, and it peaked at No.8 in the UK, spending a total of just five weeks on the chart. The song was officially the closing point of Madonna's sex-era. She wanted to close it quietly without any fuss or commotion, but she wanted to make sure that her actions were justified - and she certainly did that, in a very tongue-in-cheek way.
Human Nature begins forcefully with a surging beat and Madonna instantly whispers "Express yourself, don't repress yourself" a total of five times, before opening with the chorus, "And I'm not sorry (I'm not sorry). It's human nature (It's human nature). And I'm not sorry (I'm not sorry). I'm not your b**ch, don't hang your s**t on me (It's human nature)." Madonna then begins singing her first verse, "You wouldn't let me say the words I longed to say. You didn't want to see life through my eyes. You tried to shove me back inside your narrow room. And silence me with bitterness and lies." It's a fantastic first verse, and the lyrics are excellent. Madonna then sings the bridge, "Did I say something wrong? Oops, I didn't know I couldn't talk about sex (I musta been crazy). Did I stay too long? Oops, I didn't know I couldn't speak my mind (What was I thinking?)" Madonna then sings the chorus once more with more whispering in the background to try and intimidate all those who slammed Madonna in 1992/1993. Madonna then sings the second verse of the song, "You punished me for telling you my fantasies. I'm breakin' all the rules I didn't make. You took my words and made a trap for silly fools. You held me down and tried to make me break." Madonna then sings the bridge once more, which is slightly altered to sound like, "Did I say something true? Oops, I didn't know I couldn't talk about sex (I musta been crazy). Did I have a point of view? Oops, I didn't know I couldn't talk about you (What was I thinking?)" Madonna then sings the chorus again, before the song's beat heats up and Madonna whispers "Express yourself, don't repress yourself" eight times, before repeating the chorus until the song ends.
The video to Human Nature is definitely one of Madonna's best ever. She appears in a totally white room dressed in bondage gear, with her male and female dancers who are also dressed like her. She dances around with them in 'compromising' situations, basically telling all the harsh critics how sad and silly they were for calling Madonna so many names about her sex-era. It's a wonderful concept, and as we all now know, Madonna had the last laugh - she's had more success in the past five years than any other time in her career. All in all, a brilliant song with a wicked beat and thought-provoking lyrics.

- Human NatureThe Human Nature maxi-single is great and I reccomend it to any Madonna fan. I love the Howie Tee remixs. They have a great urban sound and beat. The rest of the remixs are great club/dance mixs. I love this single.

- What A Shame...Human Nature is a great song. Its one of the more R&B flavored tracks on her Bedtime Stories album. However these remixes are pitiful. It isn't wise to turn a R&B song into a dance remix first of all, she could of made R&B or hip hop type remixes. That would of been good, but these are pitiful. Don't even waste your money on this, just be satisfied with the album version on Bedtime Stories, because thats the best you will hear of this song.

- UnpardonableALright, if you thought that 1999's 'Nothing Really Matters' Maxi-CD single was degrading and a waste of money, check this one out. Though its chock-full of remixes, its almost insulting in its' blandness. Most of the remixes here sound like Paula Abdul's weak work on her 'Shut up and dance' and theres nothing 90's like about it at all. The video for the song, however, is memorable, but then again, this is NOT an enhanced CD, and you wont get to savor that bit of it. If you already own 'Bedtime Stories', then just be content with that, and don't even venture out getting this. An utter waste of money, and I'd have to certainly start rethinking getting anything Madonna for a while.

- Another Madonna Classic Single! I love this song, standing alone. But with some of the best singles from her collection, including the Howie Tee Mix, the Runway Club Mix Radio Edit, and the Love is Nature Mix are all reworked to perfection and enhance this single for the better.
This is sort of a F*** You! Song Madonna released after the backlash from '92 Sex Book and that naughty phase she went to that we all secretly loved but wouldnt admit to! When she whispers "Express yourself, dont repress yourself" shivers go down your spine. Also, the message she was explaining was such a strong one that even when you hear it today she seems to be a little ticked off at the people who had dissed her.
The song is a slap in the face to the people who thought they were on the top of the world, because this song really I my mind brought Madonna back to the top of female Pop and back as the Queen!
I love this single. I cannot express how great this single is and how its urgency and rebellion still lies in the words of the song and the remixes just make it more timid and ready to pounce out of the cage, where as some other ones make it mellow and do the opposite and take a new spin on it.
If you like this maxi single check out: EROTICA,JUSTIFY MY LOVE, AND SECRET.
