Descripción (en inglés) :
The 20th Century Masters series is the best-selling single-artist line in music history and is being re-released by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) in its ground-breaking, environmentally-friendly packaging format. A first for the music industry, the standard package (both sleeve and tray) will be completely paper-recyclable, continuing the company's long-standing commitment to being "green."To further reduce the amount of paper in the Eco-Pack, the CD booklet will no longer be offered. Official liner notes are easily accessible on the Internet at http://www.ilovethatsong.com/green.UMe is the first North American music company to replace the traditional jewel case with recycled paperboard sleeves and the plastic tray with trays made from PaperFoam®, a new packaging technology from Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, that is paper-recyclable and biodegradable. Shorewood Packaging is the first North American packaging supplier to produce disc trays from PaperFoam®.Análisis de usuario (en inglés) - 2004-06-09
- Not the Best Richie CompilationIf your CD collection is weak on Lionel Richie and you are looking for a nice compilation of his hits, I would recommend "The Definitive Collection" over this "20th Century Masters" album. This CD only has 11 tracks. "The Definitive Collection" has 20, and it's still 1 CD. This album is inexcusably missing some of Lionel's most significant and important hits, including "Endless Love," "Stuck On You," "Sail On," "Penny Lover," and "Ballerina Girl." All of those songs are on "The Definitive Collection." There are some tracks from this CD that aren't on "The Definitive Collection," so I recommend you compare the track lists before choosing. But in the end, I think you will agree that this is (by far) the weaker of the two sets.

- Dissapointment For A SongwriterIt is hard to imagine that when it comes to Greatest Hits records, they always fall flat on people's minds. That comes in the case for some of even the greatest songwriters ever, and Lionel Richie is absolutely no acception. His music has truly made a testimony of what our lives go through every single day. But, that isn't always the case when making an accurate hits collection. The 2003 Best Of Lionel Richie, is part of Universal's Millennium Collection. This collection is used by making budget CD's for people who want the best in a artist, but can't afford the cost. The songs here are believe it or not, ranged very poorly on this album. Still, there are songs that are very strong and assertive like Say You, Say Me, You Are, and Hello, and there are songs that are worth dancing to like Dancing On The Ceiling and All Night Long. Unfortunately, there are so many good songs here that were just missing from this collection. I mean, how in the world could you make a Greatest Hits collection for Lionel Richie's music, without having Endless Love, his hit duet with Diana Ross, or other good songs like Running With The Night, Truly, Love Will Conquer All, or his latest hits like Angel, and To Love A Woman. I mean to say that it is just awful. Look, if you want to buy this Lionel Richie collection, you're making a big mistake. Personally, I suggest you purchase Lionel Richie's Definitive Collection, which was released back in February. That one has a lot more love on it, than this one will ever carry.

- Oops, they did it again...When Paul McCartney puts out a hits album, he doesn't include Beatles tracks. Phil Collins & Peter Gabriel's best-of's don't even hint at their careers with Genesis. So why isn't it possible to have a Lionel Richie collection without throwing in Commodores tracks? There's a just-fine Commodores Millennium collection already out there. We don't need to drop several of Lionel's best solo hits to pad it with tracks that didn't fit on the first CD. And since the tracklist is missing, here it is: 1. You Are 2. My Love 3. All Night Long (All Night) 4. Hello 5. Say You, Say Me 6. Dancing On The Ceiling 7. Deep River Woman 8. Cinderella 9. Zoom - Commodores 10. Lady (You Bring Me Up) - Commodores 11. Jesus Is Love - Commodores Missing without excuse: Running with the Night, Stuck On You, Penny Lover, Ballerina Girl, and of course, Endless Love. Spend the extra coupla bux & get the Definitive Collection, which, among solo Richie tracks, excludes only the Alabama-collaboration "Deep River Woman". If they'd dropped the 5 Commodore tracks on that CD, there'd be room for it too.

- Not Truly EnoughWhen it comes to single disc greatest hits album, they often seem to really be a hit of miss. For Universal, they've often thought it would be easy to get people to buy into music with their 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection. Unfortunately, they don't always get what actually is worth the money you spent on it. That has also happened with artists from the past, and Lionel Richie is one of them. Although he has made some strong songs recently, but they just don't compare to his glory days with Motown from his solo work and especially with The Commodores. But, back in 2003 when Universal unveiled Lionel's Millennium Collection record, it missed the mark by a longshot, and it hasn't changed at all.
The 2007 re-release of Lionel Richie: 20th Century Masters Millennium Collection, now in recycled packaging, showcases 11 of Lionel's tracks from his solo era and with The Commodores. The collection doesn't really deliver being a definitive must buy, as much as it tries to gear towards those who haven't heard a Lionel Richie song before. The collection does include some classics like Say You, Say Me, his 1983 smash All Night Long, Hello, and Lady (You Bring me Up). Sadly, though the collection does overlook a lot of Lionel's great songs like Endless Love, his classic duet with Diana Ross, Running With The Night. On top of that, a lot of Commodores classics weren't highlighted here wither like Easy or Brick House.
All in all, I was a bit dissapointed with the 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection on Lionel Richie. It really doesn't measure up with other hits albums. Instead, if you're new to Lionel Richie's music, I really recommend you buy the 2003 Definitive Collection. It is a much better album, at the exact same price. As for this collection, it doesn't feel easy like Sunday Morning.
