KoЯn se formó en 1993 a raíz de la combinación de dos grupos: Sex Art y LAPD. Sex Art era el grupo que Jonathan Davis (cantante de KoRn) lideraba en la época en que trabajaba como ayudante de forense en el Condado de Kern (California). LAPD era el grupo en el que estaban Munky, David, Fieldy (más tarde) y Head (aunque sólo en la gira, no en el álbum). LAPD eran aparentemente más conocidos que Sex Art y no es imposible encontrar algo suyo por ahí (no se puede decir lo mismo de Sex Art).
