Análisis (en inglés) - Amazon.com :
The History of Rock arrives as the sort of superstardom-celebrating release that can buy a hot-selling artist time. (Think, say, G N' R Lies.) After 8 million (and counting) sales of 1998's Devil Without a Cause, the trailer-rockin' rapper is out to remind the world that it hardly started there. Mostly drawn, and often retooled, from his out-of-print Polyfuze Method and Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp, these tracks display a "funky country hick" already on point with his knowing, hardheaded combo of old-school beats and classic-rock guitars. An "American Bad Ass" for sure, but also an artist who could come only from America, Kid Rock brings the noise--not to mention the bread and the circus. --Rickey Wright

- Redone material still strong like original
This is a great album. I would caution people who loved "Devil" that this is nothing like it. This is an album of old material--Being from Detroit I already own all his old albums, and this is good because he added some things and re-recorded others. I hope people don't view this as a follow-up to Devil-- U may be dissapointed. This gives fans an opportunity to hear the tunes that made him a local legend. The album shifts from rap to rock and all things in between. This is a strange record because most artists don't give you a prelude to a successful album. this is the work that eventually led to Devil. Is it as good as Devil? I don't know Devil was so fresh and these are old songs. I hope people will listen to it for what it is a young kid making demos trying to understand himself and what he wants to say as an artist. EMSP, Prodigal Son, and I wanna go back are my personal favorites. For those who have heard the original work--I must say the original Oedipus is a lot better then the version on this album as is paid and 3 sheets to the wind. That being said--I believe it's an album worth buying and cranking to the fullest. I want a NEW album soon, though.

- Kid Rock's best cd yet!
This cd is awesome. Every single song is good. It is kind of like a Kid Rock greatest hits album. Kid Rock has 2 out of print albums called "The Polyfuze Method" and "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp." This cd has 4 songs from each one of them. It also has 2 songs from 1994 that were never released and 2 new songs. My favorite song is "American Bad A**." It really gets you fired up. "Prodigal Son" is about Kid Rock leaving home and working his way up. "Paid" and "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp" are pure old school rap. But they are still great songs. "Dark & Grey" is totally heavy metal. It has a guitar introduction for about a minute at the beginning of the song. "3 Sheets To The Wind" is my second favorite song. The sound effects are really cool. "Abortion" is a very slow, sad song. Kid Rock is talking and apologizing to a baby that he and his girlfriend aborted. "I Wanna Go Back" is also pure old school rap, but not as much as "Paid" and "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp." It is about Kid Rock getting started with his music career, and about how he lived back in Detroit. "F*** You Blind" is probably my third favorite song. If you get offend easily, don't listen to this song, especially not the chorus. The last song, "My Oedipus Complex," is probably the deepest song on this album. It is about Kid Rock's troubled relationship with his father. So there you have it. This cd rules. You can listen to some clips of songs on amazon, and if you like them, go buy the cd. It's worth it!

- Mixed bag
Kid Rock is a very talented singer. He can rap, rock, or sing sentimentally if he has to. Didn't anybody hear him sing "Free Bird" on Howard Stern? How about his world famous "Only God Knows Why"? However, when he first broke out, it was pure old school rap. Nothin' wrong with that, in my opinion! This CD is a great compliation album because not only is it some of his best early songs, but they have been remixed and/or re-recorded. What Kid Rock fan could ask for more? I would reccommend that fans who are new to Kid Rock listen to "Devil Without a Cause" first because the stuff on that CD is fresher and more radio friendly. Anyway, best tracks:

American Badass: A nice, hard, in your face metal-rap song. Sure to be a classic in years to come.

Prodigal Son- Nice mix of rap and rock with a strong chorus.

Dark & Grey- Maybe it's because I am a sucker for heavy metal guitar.

What's my name?- I love this song! I like the chorus especially with the cool sound effect.

Abortion- Nice sentimental song. No cursing!

F**k that- Fresh sounds and beats. Seems out of place on this album!

My Oedpius Complex- Very deep song!

Honorable Mention: Ya' Keep On (because he says "It's all good!" LOL) and Born 2 be a hick (I can relate to it :) )

All in all, a listenable CD. However, Kid Rock's best performances are always his live ones and the one song of his I like most is his version of "A country boy can survive". Oh well, maybe he will add that one to his new album. Personally, I'd like to hear more slow songs from Kid Rock because rap gets old after a while!

- Kid Rock is the man.
First off, i'd been waiting for this cd for several months. And when i listened to it, i was NOT dissapointed. This is an excellent album of everything that Kid has ever done. It includes songs off all of his older albums except for "Grits Sandwhiches for Breakfast". But keep in mind that this is not the follow up to "Devil Without a Cause". These songs are not radio frendly, in that a lot of them are 6 or 7 minutes long. But some of the songs evoke so much emotion. Especially "My Oedipus Complex". Other good songs are "Prodigal Son" and "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp". Kid is not afraid to tell you what he feels, or say it like it is. He is an excellent artist and i think that all of the true Kid Rock fans will really like this album.
