- Not the original charted hits......I have this CD and these are not the original charted hits and sound. I am disappointed with it. If you, too, like the original sound, don't purchase this one. I purchased this CD from a record club thru the mail and was led to believe these were the original CHARTED hits. They are not. It's the original artist, the original songs, but not the original charted versions of them!

- Rogers' classics are re-recorded for a new classicEntertainer Kenny Rogers had hit after hit in the late '70's. "The Gambler," "You Decorated My Life," and 1980's "Lady" were all monster hits. These and many other Rogers songs have turned into classics. In 1991, Kenny Rogers re-recorded 10 of his timeless hits, and released "20 Great Years." Reprise Records did a fine job of compiling a great "hits" album. All of Rogers' major hits of that era are included. The new arrangements are excellently done. Rogers used his touring band to record the album, rather than studio musicians. The result is a record that sounds like one of Rogers' concerts. It is like having Rogers in your home. New and old fans will love this album. It is certified gold (500,000 units) by the RIAA. Also, try: "Greatest Hits," Kenny Rogers (Liberty, 1980) "Across My Heart," Kenny Rogers (Magnatone, 1997)

- Disappointing Re-RecordingI've been a Kenny Rogers fan since I was 10 years old, and I have a number of his CDs. Kenny, of course, was a huge hit machine in the late 70s and early 80s, and he made some truly great country-pop music. Unfortunately, this CD consists of 1991 re-recordings of his hits. I was not aware of this detail when I bought this CD, and the only warning is a miniscule reference on the CD back indicating that it's "newly recorded." Kenny's voice sounds fine on the CD, and some of the songs don't sound considerably different from the original versions. However, all of the songs have the same producer - resulting in an overly varnished sound that takes the edge off some of his best hits. Fortunately, a plethora of other Kenny Roger's greatest hits collections are available - including the incredible 4-disc "Through the Years: A Retrospective." Unless you're a Kenny completist, you should start with another greatest hits collection.

- It's Okay....Don't get me wrong it is a good CD, but it doesn't sound the same re-recorded. Some of the fondest memories of my father was listening to the LP of Kenny Rogers with him. I guess I'm just a little nostalgic. I guess I'll have to burn the LP to CD! Otherwise it is a good CD. Enjoy.

- Get any other best of Kenny Rogers CDI picked this up on impulse this week. The songs sounded "tinny" poor mastering, and not the songs I remembered. Plus... there are a lot of Kenny Rogers songs that I like that are not on this CD.
Looking at Amazon today, I see that almost any of the other,(and there are a lot) of Best of Kenny Rogers collections have a much beeter collection of songs, and one would hope for better production as well.
Skip this CD.
