Single Minded: Erykah Badu, Goldfrapp, Dolly Parton and More

Every Tuesday Single Minded highlights new tracks hitting stores (or the Web) this week. On Fridays, come back for rarities, remixes, mash-ups and more. Erykah Badu, “Honey” [Video] In this video for the first single from Badu’s astonishing new album, she recreates a series of classic album covers. Surprisingly, the Dwarves’ Blood, Guts & Pussy is not among them. Goldfrapp, “Clowns” [MySpace] Goldfrapp takes a momentary break from trying to be indie’s answer to Madonna and attempts instead to be indie’s answer to Kate Bush. Surprise, surprise: this suits her much, much better. Janet Jackson, “Feedback” [Video] Ms. Jackson’s best single in years sounds like an Atari going haywire. Twenty-five years from now, this track will be remixed by T-Pain’s son, and will be available as a telepathic download for a nickel. Dolly Parton, “Better Get to Livin’ “ [Video] Well, hey, let’s keep the video theme afloat: this one’s got Amy Sedaris as a carnival barker and Ms. Parton dishing advice. Twenty-five years from now, this track will be remixed by T-Pain’s son and will come free with the purchase of a Taco Bell Quintuple Gordita Club Maxi-Melt. Beach House, “You Came to Me” [Video] The best video of the lot, Baltimore duo does quasi-Goth inside a church. Twenty-five years from now, T-Pain will still have no idea who Beach House are.
