Description :
Japanese reissue of 1994 album includes four bonus tracks, 'Hostility', 'World Of Denial', 'Go Home' (Video) & 'Eye To Eye' (Video). JVC. 2004.Review - Amazon.com :
Dependably enough, she still loves rock & roll. But what makes this Jett's ripest outing in years is her timely and well-deserved status as Original Riot Grrrl. Rather than adopting the noisecore assault of Babes In Toyland et al., she sticks to a rockin' pop-punk classicism that still echoes with her earliest influences, Suzi Quatro and T Rex. The spotlight will rightly fall on the four tunes written with Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna (check "Go Home" and the withering "Spinster"), but the Jim Vallance-cowritten "Eye to Eye" and "Insecure" are also worthy. --Jeff Bateman Customer review - 2003-06-30
- Insecure, Hell..."Insecure" is one of the greatest rock'n'roll songs ever; right up with "Bad Reputation" and "I Love Playin' With Fire". It sort of reminds me of the Ronettes... The rest of the album is pretty damn cool too... Dimestore Liam

- If you wanna thrash and pogo . . .I've been a Joan Jett fan (aka jetthead) for 18 years so I know what I'm talking about when I say PURE AND SIMPLE is probably one of the best Blackhearts records she's ever done. Joan Jett's production team has always been a HIT or MISS machine. This record is defintely a HIT with true hard rock fans. The guitar riffs are MONSTEROUS and VILE and NASTY. And as always, Joan's gritty, growling, and gigantic vocals are unapologetic. The high energy and intensity of this record is proof that Joan Jett has been inspired by the new generation of female rockers that SHE had inspired. Highlights on this CD are: "Spinster" "Go Home" "Activity Grrrl". And special mention goes to two accoustic tracks, "Brighter Day" and "As I Am", which showcase a softer though no less passionate Joan Jett. This is absolutely my favorite Blackhearts record to date. Can't wait for the new one to come out!

- Pure and simply Joan JettThis album DID NOT get the recognition it SO deserved. It's some the hardest stuff Joan Jett's EVER written. "Go Home" is kinda confusing at first, "Eye To Eye" is kewl, "Spinster" ROCKS!, "Torture" is fun, "Wonderin'", should've been a video, "You Got A Problem"..... AWESOME! But my favorite from this album, is "Consumed". True Jett form. This is one of Joan Jett's BEST CDs. I HIGHLY recommend this CD if you LOVE rock 'n' roll. And if you LOVE Joan Jett.

- Joan Jett - 'Pure And Simple' (Warner Brothers)I'm sort of amazed at how LONG former Runaway Joan Jett's career has actually lasted, and it's still running.Playing basic three chord rock&roll with sultry vocals apparently still have a call for it.I'm not complaining,I mean 'Pure...' is a decent CD,I thought.Tunes here I liked best were "Eye To Eye","Go Home","Insecure","You Got A Problem" and the a couple of tracks she penned along side with producer Desmond Child "As I Am" and "Brighter Day".If you're a major Joan Jett fan,you should enjoy this release. If you happen to be a new fan, start with 'Bad Reputation' then work your way forward.

- Creative songwritingThis is another great album of Joan Jett. Her songs are getting more and more personal. There are many songs on it that I love: "Eye To Eye", "Torture", "As I Am", "Wonderin'" and "Brighter Day". The last one is one of the most touching songs of all that I know! There are also songs on this album that I don't like so much. "Spinster" doesn't feel good to me. And in "Insecure" words and music don't fit together; I would prefer to hear the same music with another text and the same text with another music. Yet I give five stars to this album, because it is Joan Jett, and that is good!
