She's More Punk Than Avril!

Thursday night, we went to the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip to see our new friend and and long-time favorite Jewel perform at Star 98.7's Lounge for Life concert. Sharing the bill with all male acts - Teddy Geiger, Train and Ray Lamontange - Jewel shined, performing a power set of some of her most well-known songs, You Were Meant For Me, Hands, Good Day, Foolish Games, Who Will Save Your Soul and the crowd favorite yodeling number, Chime Bells. After the show, we met up with the singer in her dressing room and shared a few vodka tonics. Her piano player, on the other hand, had a whole bunch of drinks and got hammered. Jewel playfully teased him, saying, "I'm a folk singer. I shouldn't be drinking you under the table!!" Two cocktails isn't exactly drinking someone under the table, but Jewel can be pretty punk rock. Her band regaled us with some of the crazy stuff the Alaska native has done on tour. She won't take any shit from people while she's performing, and we love that about her. She's pretty but not timid!
