Don't even think about buying this, let alone listening to it! This is one of the worst remakes I've ever heard and I hope Berlin sues Jessica for butchering their beautiful song! All this idiot is doing is milking her 15 minutes of fame and butchering a bunch of great songs of the past. She should not be supported because she's ruining the music industry and needs to go away as soon as is humanly possible!!

There is just something about Jessica Simpson's voice. It's infectious and highly enjoyable. Jessica Simpson's rendering of Take my Breath Away is sweeter and more melodious than Berlin's. The music is pleasing on the ears, unlike the harsher tones of the latter's. Jessica Simpson retains her passion while singing, without compromising on her dulcet notes. She sings the high notes with immense talent.

Fly is also a good track, but the song that is obviously this composition's highlight is Take my Breath Away.

Okay, don't be swayed away by the fact that I like music such as Slayer and Metallica. I like the original by Berlin. Loved it, actually.

The reason I don't like this version, simply put, is because her voice isn't right for it.

I think that without the keyboards and with an all too powerful voice, it just doesn't work.

I sometimes look at covers and older songs, just as a passing glance. Anyway, sometimes those older songs can be revealing then and now. Well, there sometimes can be a miss when it comes to a cover. Jessica Simpson really puts it out as a true and doubt reject. Her remake of Berlin's Take My Breath Away, is one of the worst covers I've ever heard right now in the music industry. It really sounds as bad as both Wynonna Judd's remake of Foreigner's I Want To Know What Love Is, and a mix of what is going on American Idol. The song is just not even close to as great a cover song, as other singers have mastered them. Unlike most of the other songs out right now, Jessica Simpson's Take My Breath Away is really bad.

I do like Jessica Simpson very much and I'm not giving her a low rating just because I think she's a dumb blonde on her Newlyweds show or whatever. You people seriously need to get over it. Jessica's just acting and there's nothing wrong with the way she is, so don't HATE her just because she may come off as being a total ditz.

Anyway, I really love Berlin's take on "Take My Breath Away", and I don't think Jessica's version has the magic that Berlin's does, but it's still a nice effort and it's nice to listen to every now and then. The first couple of times I listened to it, it sounded like she had butchered the classic, but it eventually grew on me...a little.

The second song on this single is a song called "Fly", not featured on the regular or re-released issue of 'In This Skin'. It's an OK song, but it doesn't really blow me away or anything. I guess I can listen to it once in awhile without feeling like changing it to a better JS song.

So, overall, 3 Stars for both songs on a single that costs $2.99! I think it's quite a bargain, since "Fly" is a newer song.
