There are several musicians named James Taylor, including the singer-songwriter and guitarist (born 1948), the British acid jazz musician, and James "J.T." Taylor, a lead singer with the band Kool & The Gang. ------------------ James Taylor (born March 12, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where his father Isaac Taylor was the dean of the University of North Carolina Medical School. His family summered on Martha's Vineyard.
