- Great concert

If you are a fan of Jack Johnson's music this is a great concert. He puts on an awesome performance with all of the best songs and also gives the audience a look into what goes on backstage and before the performance.

- A casual DVD

I missed one of Jack's concert as they were all sold out, looking to find something to experience what his concerts might be like. Unfortunately, this DVD has the potential, but falls short. For example the narrative keeps talking about some of these experiences, as Jack enjoys the crowd singling along. However, you don't get to hear them sing, only very loud cheering which often overshadows Jack's music. Again, in the narrative, other band members briefly notes how Jack might passionate about the song & approach, but they don't actually discuss it, nor let the audience experience it. Essentially, the DVD talks the talk, but fails to show the walk. The first DVD's footage does not capture the feeling of Jack's music,

The Japan version(2nd DVD), has a better editing & art direction in that you can hear the music, the energy is better captured, but unfortunately the footage is more random in that it shifts focus by jumping from concert to concert with each new song as well as being on the shorter side (40 min).

I get the impression that this DVD is more designed for the people who were at the event, and provides a more documentary means than what others are expecting. By no means is this a horrible DVD, as it still is enjoyable, but it can prove to be frustrating in that the crowd's cheering overshadows the music. Jack's fan are not likely to be disappointed,, as I'm one myself, however, the replay factor is severely lacking, thus the value of this purchase can be somewhat questionable. The footage provided promising, but it could benefit from better/more editing. If you can rent this, borrow it, or acquire it on sale, as this DVD is worth viewing Once. But for those of us who want to see what his concert is about will have to keep waiting, as this is not the experience that you're looking for.

- Fantastic Video - Well beyond the music.

Who wants to sit through a concert DVD? Not me. This movie includes music as well as a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes into making the band what it is. Great format. The documentary style really breaks up the concert into a backdrop of the story. Very well done. I love JJ's music and aspire to play his songs on guitar. This video helps bridge the gap from where he is to the rest of us. He is a very down to earth person and this really comes through in this video.
