EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF kicks off with the martial edge of "Born to Lead," then gives way to the high-flown, midtempo melodicism of "Moving Forward." <p>"Inside of You" alternates a slinky, riff-centered verse with an MTV-ready chorus, while the album's lead-off single, "If I Were You," shows Hoobastank in expansive power-ballad mode. While the band won't win any prizes for originality, Hoobastank keep a steady holding pattern on EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF, an achievement that should please fans of the band's commercially oriented heavy rock.
