There are two artists known as Hole, the American alternative rock band and a British one-man experimental/industrial project active in the late 1980s, 1) Hole is an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles, and was initially active from 1989-2002 before reforming in 2009. The band was fronted by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Courtney Love, who co-founded Hole with lead guitarist Eric Erlandson when he responded to an ad she placed in the punk zine Flipside. Lisa Roberts, Love's neighbor, filled in as the band's first bassist but dropped the project very early on.
