Canon in D major, by Johann Pachelbel, was written in or around 1680, during the Baroque period, as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso, but has since been arranged for a wide variety of ensembles. The piece is especially known for its chord progression, and is often played at weddings. George Winston’s variation of the theme is quite unique.
