Review - Amazon.com :
The line on Strait is that if you've heard one of his albums, you've heard them all, an assessment that could only be made by someone who really had heard just one of his albums. Following a career trend that had been building for some time, Strait's 1998 One Step at a Time is probably the least traditional album of his career. Throughout, Strait uses twangy instrumentation to create country music out of pop songs, as on the island-sounding "I Just Want to Dance With You," the impossibly catchy "True," the bluesy "Remember the Alamo," and the pop-rocking Mavericks-sound-alike "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This." One Step at a Time does have one thing in common with previous Strait albums, though: it's one of the year's finer mainstream country efforts. --David CantwellCustomer review - 2000-07-04
- Still great musicThis Cd has recieved a lot of average reviews because, supposedly, George strayed from his traditional roots. There is still some great music on this Cd that makes it worth buying! We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This, I Just Wanna Dance With You, Why Not Now, and especially Maria are my favorites. I listen to every song on this CD everytime I play it, never want to skip any of them! George didn't stray from traditional country music, he is just adapting. This CD is a worhty of your hard earned money! A lot of great listening music to add to your collection! BUY IT!

- One Of George's Best. One Step At A Time Is The Same Name For "One Night At A Time" Which Appears On The "Carrying Your Love With Me" Album. The Dance Tune "I Just Wanna Dance With You" Became A Number 1 Hit. The Songs I Like On This CD Are: "True" And "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This". You Won't Be Dissipointed With This CD.

- Not the typical George Strait album, but not badI bought One Step At A Time because I couldn't get enough of the song, "True." I also liked the hits "I Just Wanna Dance With You" and "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This." However, after listening to the rest of the songs, I sort of thought that this album wasn't the typical George Strait album; especially not when you compare it to some of the other great ones such as Carrying Your Love With Me and Blue Clear Sky. The only songs I liked other than the 3 hits were the title track and "Remember The Alamo." I thought the rest of the songs were just mediocre and not up to the usual George Strait standard. Overall, if you're a George Strait fan, I would recommend getting this album. But if you only get a few of his albums, this is not one of his best.

- "Wanna Dance" - a classic! The title song makes the album worth trying, worth buying. I am not much of a country fan, but this album re-ignites my interest.

- no disapointment hereFor you people who think this was a disapointment. Please get off your soap box. GS did not stray from traditional country music. I Just Want To Dance With You, Why Not Now, and You Haven't Left Me Yet were very country. Maria with its spanish twist is my fav from this album, and We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This is great to do a little Texas polka too. Now when George starts sounding like Brad Paisley or as pop as Shania he will have strayed from traditional country. This CD is good and a must buy just like the rest!
