Fall Out Boy is a band formed in 2001 in Glenview, Illinois after good friends Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz met high schooler Patrick Stump. Stump originally auditioned as a drummer, but soon became the lead singer. The following year, the band debuted with a self-released demo and followed it up with the May 28, 2002 release of Split EP, which featured Project Rocket, on Uprising Records. The group released a mini-LP, Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girlfriend, also on Uprising Records, in 2003. |

Peter Wentz got pally with the graffiti artists decorating the backstage area - and used their stuff to make a giant birthday card for his son, Bronx. It read "Bronx Happy 1st Bday from Dad." Bless - a pity it was a bit late!

Fall Out Boy's Stump (Class of '02) returns to GBS (Chicago Sun-Times)

"I'm not here promoting anything," Patrick Stump explained during his first visit back to Glenbrook South High School. "I'm here to say hi and see the place." When he graduated in 2002, Stump was a member of a band that had played in basements, the Arlington Heights Knights of Columbus Hall and a bar in Schaumburg. He returned as song composer, vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Fall Out Boy.
