Description :
Import pressing of their 1975 album One Of These Nights. Vinyl replica CD comes housed in a slipcase. Rhino UK. 2006.Review - Amazon.com essential recording :
The Eagles exploded on the charts in 1975 with One of These Nights, the first of four straight albums by the band to reach No. 1. The album was their most varied to date, with the discofied title track, the stately waltz "Take It To the Limit," and the tough, cynical country rocker "Lyin' Eyes." The album contains a couple of unusual numbers as well, including Bernie Leadon's psychedelic banjo showcase "Journey of the Sorcerer" and "I Wish You Peace," which Leadon wrote with his then-girlfriend, future first daughter (by virtue of her parents, Ron and Nancy Reagan) and nude model (courtesy of Playboy), Patti Davis. --Daniel DurchholzCustomer review - 2000-01-08
- One Of The Best Albums Of The 70'sAlong with "Hotel California",it ranks as one of the finest 70's rock albums. The fact that the album tracks(Too Many Hands,Hollywood Waltz,Visions,After The Thrill Is Gone, the weirdly gorgeous Journey Of The Sorcerer instrumental)are actually better than the three overplayed-but-still-awesome hits(Take It To Limit,Lyin' Eyes,One Of These Nights)only testifies this record's musical excellance! Its no wonder why it turned The Eagles into a household name!

- Overall, the Eagles' best effort'One of these nights' is the Eagles' best album to date. While most Eagles albums are spotty through out, this one stands strong. Several hits came out of this record, including "Lyin' eyes", "Take it to the limit" and the title track. Although, there are more than hits included here as well. "After the thrill is gone" is a great song. Don Felder's only lead vocal contribution, "Visions" is one of the album's finer moments. And the slow "I wish you peace" builds to a fitting conclusion for the album. Even some of the odd, or weak songs are pretty good. "Too many hands", and "Hollywood waltz" get better the more you listen to them. And the instrumental "Journey of the Sorcerer" is just different enough to keep your attention. If there is a true Eagles album to have (not including any of their 'Greatest hits' packages) this is the one. Anyone interested in the Eagles, if you started off here, you won't regret it.

- Does anybody besides me hate this band? It's been a while since I bashed the Eagles, so I thought I'd get back in action. Anyway...
Three of the most annoying Top 5 ihts of the '70's can be found on this disc: the title track, a crappy uptempo/pseudo-dance song that's even more annoying than Hotel California; the brainless Lyin' Eyes; and especially the sophoric, overly-orchestrated Take it To the Limit. I don't know how ANYBODY can put up with this group, but if I hear one more Eagles hit on the radio...

- NOT AS WELL-KNOWN AS "HOTEL CALIFORNIA"Is it true that a band's best record is the best-known one? "One Of These Nights" is far less famous than "Hotel California", and yet I think that the Eagles' best album is "One Of These Nights". After having cut three records, I consider "One Of These Nights" to be most accurately representative of the band's maturity. As it goes, "Hotel California" would only be a kind of follow-up to that maturity. And I wonder, is there any song in "Hotel California" that is better than "Lyin' Eyes" or "Journey Of The Sorcerer"? Is there any song in "Hotel California" that conveys a greater sensitivity than "Hollywood Waltz", "After The Thrill Is Gone", "Take It To The Limit" or "I Wish You Peace"? Is there any song in "Hotel California" with a deeper rockin' feel than "Visions" or the title track? These are the main reasons why I believe that all the good things contained in "Hotel California" can already be found in "One Of These Nights". To me, this album is more original and the group was not so lost in success. Because, after all, what good stuff did The Eagles cut after "Hotel California?

- If It Weren't For Douglas Adams, I Wouldn't Be An Eagles FanWhen I found out that the very familiar "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" radio and TV series theme music was an Eagle's instrumental called "Journey Of The Sorcerer", as soon as I owned a CD player, I went right out and bought this album. The instrumental song is a very interesting, as well as the longest track, on the album. Other songs that aren't radio airplay songs, but I still love them anyway are "Visions", and "After The Thrill Is Gone". After buying this album, I evenually purchased all six of the Eagles albums from 1972 to 1979. If it weren't for Douglas Adams, author of the Hitchhiker's Guide series, I would not have become such a big Eagles fan.
