Análisis (en inglés) - Amazon.com :
Many Elvis fans will insist that recording smoochy ballads were the first step on his road away from gritty rock & roll and into mainstream show-biz. But the fact is that the King was a formidable romantic crooner who, given the right material, effortlessly stamped his sexually-charged charisma into love songs. This collection presents 18 classics spotlighting the King's romantic side, including "Love Me Tender," "Are You Lonesome Tonight," "It's Now or Never," "Can't Help Falling in Love," "Suspicious Minds," "Good Luck Charm," "Unchained Melody," "The Wonder of You," "Surrender," "Such a Night," "Kentucky Rain," and "Separate Ways." It doesn't rock much, but it's still prime Presley. --Scott Schinder

- Good CD
This Cd has something for everyone. I was happy to never have heard of the version of 'You gave me a mountain' previously. It's a good version. I really enjoyed the non-number one songs too such as I'm leaving, Kentucky Rain, Separate Ways and That's someone you never forget. Great sound, great vocals!!!

A collection of songs on the topic of love that span Elvis' recording career from the 50s to the 70s including some live tracks. The audio enginerring is well done. My only quibble is the sequencing of tracks on this cd doesn't flow well. I reorganize the songs into four groups beginning with boy meets girl, boy falls in love, boy loses girl and lastly boy's quest for reconcilliation. The program begins with the medium shuffle beat of "Good Luck Charm" followed by the fast rocking number "Such A Night". Then comes the intense and operatic "Surrender". A capella harmonies segue nicely into "It's Now or Never", one of the top ten best selling singles of all time, followed by "Can't Help Falling In Love". "Spanish Eyes" provides a change of tempo then we slow things down with "Puppet On A String" and "Love Me Tender". "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" changes the mood beginning the boy loses girl group and the desperation of "Suspicious Minds" provides a change of tempo as we leave the joys of love for the pains of love with "I'm Leavin'", "You Gave Me A Mountain" and "Seperate Ways". "She's Not You" changes the theme again and starts the search for lost love in "Kentucky Rain" followed by "That's Someone You Never Forget". The emotionally powerful "Unchained Melody" brings the album to a climax. "The Wonder Of You" provides an uplifting denoument to this wonderful compilation of love songs sung by Elvis Presley.

- Elvis Lover Loves It
I purchased this tape for my 13yr. old who has loved Elvis since she was 18mos. old. She is thrilled and LOVES it and I may have to buy another one before she wears this one out. Great for Elvis fans of all ages.

- Elvis at his mellowest
While this is a collection of love songs, it does cover a spectrum of Elvis' styles. There a little rockabilly, a little country, a little folk, a little classical derived, a little dramatic production type....

This collection opens with a live number, UNCHAINED MELODY, not up to either the Al Hibbler or Righteous Brothers versions, but good; and it ends with a live performance of THE WONDER OF YOU.

A few of these are unfamiliar to me: the rockabilly SUCH A NIGHT, I'M LEAVIN' with great piano and choral backup, the country sounding SHE'S NOT YOU backed by the Stamps Quartet & J. D. Summer, THAT'S SOMEONE YOU NEVER FORGET and SEPARATE WAYS. Then are a couple not associated with Elvis: Marty Robbins' YOU GAVE ME A MOUNTAIN, and a superlative SPANISH EYES. The rest are the more standard and often heard Elvis songs. All in all, it's a great collection for those who enjoy him at his romantic best.
