- Not only did I pay money for it, I'd have gladly paid more
What! so now I have to hide this away in a safe like a dead body! Get a grip on raelity! It's a disco album, some dig it, some don't big deal! YOu don't need to keep it under lock and key and be ashamed of buying it. GO and buy it and see for yourself.

- Don't Be Fooled By The Review Below Mine
That's right, don't be tricked by the 5 star review below. (I believe he's mockingly giving the album high marks). This is a dog of a record. I feel bad for my poor mom who, knowing I was such an Elton John fan, picked this one up for me back when I was a teen (on cassette from a garage sale; luckily she didn't spend that much). Not only is Victim of Love failed disco, it's failed Euro-disco (disco minus all of the fun). What a dismal, dismal album. The only reason to own this terrible disc is if you wish to experience, first-hand, what it must feel like to be trapped in Hell. I'd even go so far as to suggest that this album gives Atheists sufficient evidence to prove that there is no God!

- Yep - this is the absolute worst thing Elton ever recorded!
I just ripped this CD onto my computer using Real Jukebox. After I did, and played a few tracks for the first time in years, I was sorely tempted to just erase the files, even though I have 15 Gig left on my drive. Yes, the album is that bad. The only reason I'm holding onto this CD is in the hope it goes out of print - then I can sell it for $... on eBay. Meanwhile, it makes a great toy for my 1-1/2 year old. And who the hell is this Pete Bellotte that wrote the ... on this CD? I sure hope it wasn't a pen name for Elton John. I like early 80's Elton more than his other phases - The Fox, 21 at 33, Too Low For Zero are all great in my book. If you like those, stay far, far away from this one.

- Even the great ones make mistakes
Try this experiment. Go to any used CD store, and look in the Elton John section. You will find that this CD accounts for half of the bin. That's because people like me saw this CD and thought, "Hey, there's an Elton John CD I don't have. I had better buy it, or my EJ colection will not be complete."

Then they listened to it and thought, "What the hell is this?! Ewwwww, Yuck!"

If you find this CD in a new CD store, you will notice that it cost half as much as any other Elton John CD. There is a reason.

Some people (and I used to be one of them) say that Elton could do no wrong in the seventies. That is not quite true. It is very sobering and depressing, really. The mighty Casey had struck out. He's only human, after all. Say it ain't so!

Elton John was never afraid to take his music into new directions. The Thom Bell Sessions is a great example of that. Victim of Love is not.

I just pray Elton John does not repeat the mistake he made with Victim of Love, and release a rap CD.

- Elton Does Disco
Without a doubt, this is Elton's worst CD ever. Why this is still available, and not the more laudable "Thom Bell Sessions", is quite unfathomable to me. I suppose Elton was eager to get out of his contract with MCA, but I wonder why he was willing to sing covers of rock and roll classics such as "Johnny B. Goode" and dreadful disco tunes such as the title track. Only if you're an absolute diehard Elton John fan will you want this CD.
