Released a few weeks in advance of their debut, {^Permission to Land}, {$the Darkness}' third short-player was named after album highlight {&"Growing on Me"} -- arguably the most immediate single of the band's short but inspired career to date. Further buoyed by almost hourly {@MTV} airplay of its attendant video, {^Growing on Me} peaked at number 17 and offered two collectable nonalbum tracks as well. These were the bluesy, {$Thin Lizzy}-citing {&"How Dare You Call This Love?"} and the instrumental {&"Bareback,"} a regular show opener powered by riffs that {$AC/DC} built. Of note, such is {$the Darkness}' remarkably high-grade songwriting that both of these songs could have easily slotted themselves into the aforementioned album, making this release well worth seeking out for die-hard fans. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
