Parece ser que el aterrizaje en Nashville, a mediados de los 70, de un menda llamado Dwight Yoakam, equipado con un pesado fardo de honky tonk al estilo Buck Owens, no fue muy feliz y, de entrada, fue rechazado por no ajustarse a los cánones del "mainstream" de la època.
