- Reverse the Curse!True, "Tessie" is not a typical Dropkick Murphy's song, but as a diehard Red Sox fan who saw the premier of this song at the Red Sox vs. Yankees game awhile back, I thought it was an important piece to add to my collection.
The one thing you can always say about the Dropkick Murphy's is how they are a big supporter of their hometown sport teams and this CD features "The Official Anthem of the Boston Red Sox."
If you are not a Red Sox fan, do not get the CD. You will be disappointed. Otherwise, to all you Red Sox fans out there, buy the CD and help Reverse the Curse!

- Instantly addicted to these guys after one listen.I had heard of this band before...the punk rockers with the piper in the ranks who covered Glasgow Celtic Football Club's terrace anthem "Fields Of Athenry"...so I wasn't caught COMPLETELY by surprise to find that I like them a lot...but early this morning I was watching the bonus features of the 2004 World Series highlights DVD (ASIN: B000679N6E) when I heard this EP's title track being played with such amazing energy and passion that I had to find out at once who the band was. I nipped off to the record shop at once and was thrilled to find the song on this EP (it is also available on another charity compilation CD from Boston and ESPN baseball expert Peter Gammons called "Hot Stove Cool Music" -ASIN: B00015HVNI).
This EP is an incredible introduction to the band; VERY reasonably priced (with proceeds going to charity, so everyone wins), two separate but equally brilliant versions of "Tessie" one more-or-less acoustically performed behind a HUGE ballpark organ), the aforementioned "Fields Of Athenry", as well as a scorching instrumental (either "Nutty" or "Nut Rocker", it's listed both way s in the CD liners), and an acoustic original "The Burden". It's truly a can't-lose proposition for the curious music fan, baseball historian ("Tessie" is basically a recounting of Boston's ragtime fan contingent "The Royal Rooters" raising hell after the box office sold their seats out from under them before a big game), and/or Celtophile.
I'll be buying anything from these guys I can find after hearing this EP with no reservation...this is great stuff, and further proof that 2004 will forever be remembered as The Year Of The Red Sox...Black-&-Tans for everyone!!!

- Will This Reverse the Curse?Maybe not, but it will make trying a whole lot more fun. Not exactly "punk", but a really fun song. I'd love to hear 35,000+ at Fenway sing it.
Although having "Nutty" on this CD is a nice bonus for any Bruins fan, 1/2 star off because the the version on "Live on St. Patrick's Day" is better.
Another 1/2 star off, not because the bonus video is bad, but becasue it could have been much better.

- "Tessie" and the Red Sox Win the World Series!!!!YES! Tessie has saved us! The Royal Rooters live! Buy Tessie new--not used--the money all goes to charity!
"... when the game was on the line, Tessie always carried them away...."
Any baseball or Boston history fan will love this. Did we mention the free video included?
Oh, yes--storm-troopers of the Evil Empire, save your money! You'll need it to buy handkerchiefs to cry into!

- Red Sox and Dropkicks', a perfect match.A great track worthy to be the new anthem for Red Sox Nation. It sure sounded great in Fenway this weekend, fresh after the Sox having whipped the Yankees. Nice job Dropkicks', Go Sox, World Series Champions 2004 ! ! !
