LaDonna Andrea Gaines, conocida mundialmente como Donna Summer nació el 31 de Diciembre de 1948 en Massachusetts, Estados Unidos. Donna creció en el seno de una familia cristiana; fue así como empezó a cantar en la iglesia para posteriormente integrar una banda de rock juvenil. A los 18 años de edad, Donna abandona su hogar para participar en una audición en un musical de Broadway llamado “Hair”, y logra formar parte del elenco. El espectáculo se mudó por un tiempo a Munich, Alemania, y al terminar la obra, Donna se establece en Alemania como residente.
