- sally burns has commentsThis is an album I used to listen to as a little girl.I have always loved this duo, but I haven't heard their music for years as our albums were old lp's.There are a few more albums recorded by Porter and Dolly but this website only has 4. I am looking for an album with the songs titled; 'The pain of loving you'and 'Run that by me one more time' If anyone reading this has info about more of Porter and Dolly's recordings, please let me know through this website by comments or email me. My address is;- chris.40burns@btinternet.com

- Great compilation of their duetsTogether with another compilation on the same label, Sweet harmony, this provides many Porter and Dolly duets not otherwise available on CD as well as many but not all of their classic hits. The hits here include Holding on to nothing, We'll get ahead some day, Just someone I used to know (originally recorded by George Jones as A girl I used to know), Daddy was an old time preacher man, Better move it on home, The right combination, Burning the midnight oil, We found it, Please don't stop loving me and Say forever you'll be mine. Every one of these is a Porter and Dolly classic. Another song that is regarded as a classic, though it was only a B-side originally, is Jeannie's afraid of the dark - a very dramatic piece, more narration than song. Like the hits, this can be found elsewhere. So, what of the obscure songs on this collection? The opening track, Two of a kind, is an upbeat song that really sums up the duo in their heyday. Porter and Dolly recorded a few fighting songs, all of which were quite amusing. Two are included here - I've been married just as long as you have and Fight and scratch. Another amusing song is You and me her and him (about two couples in a love tangle). Of course, there are also some brilliant love songs here. There is an up-tempo song here titled The power of love. This is an original song that, to my knowledge, has not been covered by anybody else. The title has, of course, been used for many different songs in many musical genres. The ballads are brilliant, including Something to reach for, In each love some pain must fall and The house where love lives. Together with Sweet harmony, Porter and Dolly fans should find this well worth tracking down.
