- Caesar rolls out the deserving red carpet for Miss Ross!
One of the most famous and pioneering first sopranos of the rock and roll music genre, Ross knocks 'em "dead" again with her impeccable singing voice, stage presence, style, poise, beauty during this performance at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV, U.S.A. (1974) For those of you wondering, yeah, this was recorded back when she still had a high pitched nasal voice.

She's LIVE and in very fine voice on this album and sings show tunes and blues favorites of hers and others. She belts as only she can on "Don't Rain on My Parade" and "My Corner of the Sky" from the Broadway show "Pippin". Her energy, dynamics and interpretation are astounding and mesmerizing. The way she performed "Corner of the Sky" brought tears to my eyes, 'cause it was so beautiful. She moves you on this album.

There isn't a lot of rock and roll style on this album with the exception of a quick medley showcasing of her hits she made famous as lead singer fo the 60's girl group Diana Ross and the Supremes, it seems to be a concert styled to satisfy a cabaret audience with a big band backing her and music to fit big band, jazz and show tune stylings, but that doesn't make the album any less enjoyable whatsoever. In fact, it may make it more enjoyable for some as it proves she was an incredible singer. There is also some stand up comedy designed to work with the flow and theme of the concert delivered with her equally musical speaking voice. It's too bad she never did voice-overs.

Worthy of note: This compact disc contains a much better version of "I Love You Porgy" than her "Blue" cd.

This compact audio disc is a rare gem and out of print. I was able to obtain a Brazilian pressing in 2007 for a reasonable price and let me tell you it was worth every penny. The original compact disc I have of this recording is actually a digitally remastered version. The sound quality is fantastic and the art work is bolder and better (It doesn't have the ugly grey border you see in the representation here)
