Deftones (stylized as deftones) is an American rock band from Sacramento, California formed in 1988, consisting of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Chi Cheng (bass), Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), and Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion). Their sound has been described as ranging from alternative metal, dream pop and nu metal, to progressive rock and art rock. |

BURBANK, Calif----On November 19 and 20, 2009 hard rock pioneers DEFTONES hosted two special benefit shows at the intimate Avalon in Hollywood, CA for their bassist, Chi Cheng. Joined by a handful of their peers from near and far, both shows featured entirely unique sets with DEFTONES performing songs from all five of their prior releases as well as some fan favorite covers.

Despite the serious accident Deftones bassist Chi Cheng suffered — he's still recovering from a coma after being in a car crash in 2008 — the band plan to continue together, and they'll release a new album on April 27.

Chino and the gang announce their return in 2010. Deftones will release their as-yet untitled new album on April 26th, 2010. The album was produced by Trivium, Foo Fighters and Danzig collaborator Nick Raskulinecz and will feature the bass playing of Quicksand man Sergio Vega.
