"Deep Purple" is an English hard rock band formed in Hertfordshire in 1968. Together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath they are considered to be heavy metal pioneers. Especially influential to heavy metal were Ian Gillan's powerful screams and Ritchie Blackmore's virtuoso solos. Deep Purple were also very influential to progressive rock. Deep Purple's early output ranged from rock (such as their cover of Joe South's "Hush") to strongly classically influenced pieces (such as "April", from their third album). |

On Football: Suddenly in deep purple Date: 25 Dec 2009 The Washington Times -
Blame Bryant McKinnie for being unable to slow down Julius Peppers. Blame Adrian Peterson for stumbling his way to 35 rushing yards. Blame a secondary for allowing Steve Smith to catch nine passes for 157 yards. Instead, Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress tried to blame Brett Favre for his team's struggles last week against Carolina. Wrong move. A bad decision considering Minnesota was ...

WILLIAM HILL KING GEORGE VI CHASE PINSTICKERS' GUIDE Date: 25 Dec 2009 Sporting Life -
Second in the race last year and a winner of both the RSA Chase and of a Grade Two race on his first start of the season. But as many disappointing runs have flowed as good ones and he was put in his place by Deep Purple at Huntingdon last time. Probably better to look for safer options.
