Ironically, now that he's a proven seller, fans can finally get ahold of "Sell Sell Sell" again. The title track is one of David's most powerful, scathing songs, featuring a haunting sound creted by strumming his electric guitar above the neck. Despite excellent songwriting and his always powerful voice (and even free promotional cassettes handed out at his shows during the tour to support this album) "Sell Sell Sell" marked the end of the first part of David Gray's career. While not as inorganic as "White Ladder," David does favor a heavier sound on this record, utilizing a full band on many tracks and electric guitars. His quiet, powerful songs do rear up, occasionally, and I think "Smile" is one of his best in this vein. It's a really beautiful, fragile love song. He's been playing "Late Night Radio" (a would-be hit that got a lot of rotation on Radio K in Minnesota) and "Everytime" in shows lately, but my favorites would have to be "Smile," "What Am I Doing Wrong?" and "Forever Is Tomorrow Is Today." I still like his first two records the best, but this is a great record nonetheless, and I'd recommend it to new and old fans alike.

The third release from the UK singer-songwriter is a great collection of soaring dylanesque songs. Whilst maybe lacking the cohesiveness of his first release "A Century Ends" and the sheer beauty of his current release "White Ladder" this is a welcome addition to the collection of anyone who enjoys great songs. Standout tracks include Late Night Radio, Gutters full of Rain and Folk Song. He was dropped from his record company shortly after this release, and subsequently released White Ladder on his own label which is now something like 9-times platinum in Ireland. Buy the other albums if you havn't heard him, but this one will surely follow quickly.

I first heard of David Gray on "Young Americans," and I immediately bought "White Ladder," for the featured songs. After falling in love with his voice and beautiful lyrics I had to hear more so I bought "Sell, Sell, Sell," and I was even more in love. I could listen to the album all night and never get tired of it. Everything from the fast-paced "Faster, Sooner, Now," to the slower "Gutters Full Of Rain," is amazing. This album is a must have.

David Gray is definitely one of the great artists of our time. I absolutely fell in love with his music and his lyrics with the "White Ladder" album. Soon I was obsessed with buying anything from him that I could get my hands on.

"Sell Sell Sell" is more guitar driven than the successful "White Ladder" but it doesn't miss the mark. David's poetic lyrics are still there along with his angst. There are several songs on this album that could be released today and be smash hits...if only given a chance.

If you loved "White Ladder", give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.

The first song that i heard from David Gray was the radio friendly track "Babylon". I liked the song, but was not really convinced. I then heard the local college radio station playing "Please Forgive Me". Now i was hooked. This was a great singer/songwriter that showed a lot of promise. I then went and got White Ladder and was in love.

Shortly after a friend told me that i should pick up the little known release "Sell, Sell, Sell". I went out and found it at a local record store, and fell in love with it right away. The CD starts off strong with the high-energy track "Faster, Sooner, Now" then moves on to the great "Late Night Radio". From here the CD moves on to the title track, and in the process keeps up the energy, with a transition that leads the songs to be less of pop material and more from the heart.

David Gray is a great talent and an artist that looks to have a long bright future. Fans of White Ladder may want to look into this CD. It is a great supplement to that disc, while also being able to display the talents that Gray possesses. And a word to the wise, if he comes to your town live, get a ticket and see him. He is an incredible live performer.
