- A Modern Classic
This is a beautiful combination of two great voices in music -- Bing and Bowie. Bing sings the Little Drummer Boy, while Bowie simultaneously sings Peace on Earth -- a mix that truly puts one in the Holiday mood!

- Christmas Memories
I first watched Bing Crosby and David Bowie sing this combination of "Little Drummer Boy" and "Peace on Earth" on a Christmas special in the late 1970s. I was in graduate school at the time and balancing a job, school, and a young family did not leave me a lot of time. My wife and two daughters sat down and watched this special, something my hectic life rarely allowed. I don't remember much about the rest of the Christmas special, but this song has stayed with me. It is a beautiful rendition that helped rescue that Christmas for me, as well as several since that time. I think you will like this duet, and perhaps be moved by it, especially its call for peace on Earth which now more than ever seems to be lacking. Enjoy!

- "Agents Sliding Down the Chimney"
I think this is the only place you'll find this classic and poignant recording. It was taken from a 1977 special that Bing Crosby just months before his untimely death (and aired a few months after the sad news). Bing is fine voice, especially considering this was one of his last performances. When it was aired, I was curious to seeing a rock star on a special hosted by one of the great crooners who went back to World War II. In the spoken introduction, you have Bing humoring David ("Do you know of any older stuff?")and David humoring Bing in return ("Sure, I know of John Lennon and Harry Nilson") before David looks at a sheet of music and proclaims: "This is my son's favorite!" and the 2 begin singing. David adds some new lyrics: "Peace on earth, can it be?".

- A Wonderful Surprise!
I was skeptical at first when my husband claimed that this version of The Little Drummer Boy was one of the best ever recorded. He was right. I never dreamed that such an odd combination of old and new voices could create such harmony! Bing and Bowie have sung a song together that shows the spirit of Christmas crossing all boundaries!

- Video is disappointing; Audio is wonderful.
I remembered seeing the television show many years ago and when I looked it up on the Internet, Amazon.com came up with this CD. I ordered a few copies of this item for various family members after a very animated discussion on Christmas Eve -- some folks said it was crazy to think that these two artists would sing together and thought that the two voices had been recorded separately! Anyway, we were all very disappointed when the video could only be played on a PC. We all had assumed that this would be a DVD quality movie. It should be! I would gladly pay many times the price for a better video. The PC video version is only about 4"x5" and looses resolution rapidly if you try to enlarge it. The audio is worth it, though we were expecting a double-bonus with the video and it didn't work out that way.
