So, TBS unveiled their new MLB Postseason Banner in Midtown Manhattan, and here are the four individuals they have chosen promote their coverage of "Postseason" Baseball: David Ortiz - Hero in the '04 playoffs, Red Sox will be back in the playoffs this year, super likeable and recognizable. Derek Jeter - The Yankees are still in a race for the Wildcard, but they're still the Yankees, they're still super popular, and Derek Jeter is synonomous with postseason baseball, plus the billboard is, after all, in New York City. David Wright - A young, budding superstar playing for the current NL East leaders whose popularity and marketability in the New York metro area continues to skyrocket. John Smoltz - John Smoltz. John Smoltz of the third-place Atlanta Braves. Who trail the Mets by five games and have three teams above them in the Wildcard standings. To represent Postseason Baseball. A player on a team that needs to go on a hot streak and pass multiple other teams to have a shot at appearing in the postseason. No Vlad Guererro? Jake Peavy? Mags Ordonez? How about another frickin' Met, rather than showing off a player with an 83% chance of not actually being in the postseason and who plays on a team that New Yorkers either hate or are completely ambivalent towards? If I didn't know any better, I'd almost think the Turner Broadcasting Station is almost rooting for that franchise that plays its home games at Turner Field...
