| The Set: Hotel California. Think Reservoir Dogs. Amen! Cast includes Tatiana Ali and Tyson Beckford and…
The Star: Erik Palladino. You know him from ER. Locals have caught his band Hearing Red at the Viper Room. And horror buffs will love him in Return to House on Haunted Hill.
The Spat: I'm just gonna let Erik tell the story because, man, he tells it good.
"We're in a bad neighborhood in Los Angeles. The shot is of me jumping off the fire escape. I start walking, and I have this gun. So, the third take, I'm 70 yards away from the crew, and I see cop cars. Now, I have tattoos, on my head, tattoos everywhere. I look like a guy that might have a gun. I think maybe they were informed that we're shooting here, so I get around the corner and I hear 'Put your f--king hands in the air!' "
Four cop cars, eight cop cars, guns are pulled on me. I kind of was prepared for it, so I'm not freaking out. I put my hands up, I'm like 'Guys, we're shooting a movie. I'm an actor.'"
It's tense, but after a little friendly inspection, all is well. Almost.
The Punch Line: Erik tells me that he doesn't know why, but the set PA, who was not brandishing a weapon, got put in handcuffs. They eventually let him go. It's been said before, but I'll say it again: Production assistants do not make enough money. |
