Crossfade's sophomore album delivers more of the post-grunge the band offered up on their debut, minus the effects of DJ Tony Byroads (who left the band following that album). A trio now, Crossfade still packs plenty of punch on FALLING AWAY, a collection of 11 heavy, guitar-driven songs about heartbreak and pain. Crossfade specializes in themes of personal isolation and woe, and singer Ed Sloan's rough and ready voice makes that suffering credible. Over a thunderous template that recalls bands like Nickelback, Sloan's words and voice make FALLING AWAY the perfect soundtrack to bouts of angry, angst-filled self-examination.
