- REISSUED AGAIN
Connie originally recorded her tribute to Buddy Holly on a small UK label TO BUDDY WITH LOVE. This was her last full studio recording. It has been reissued several times with different covers and some of the times have been released on other anthologies. This is a fine recording, befitting the late great legend. It gets 5 stars for the best cover since this is not a new release of new product. Despite some vocal problems that plagued her for several years, she does put her heart into this loving tribute. Connie has been touring a great deal over the past years and her voice is now back to it's former glory and it is an awesome instrument. She is one of the elite few icons still going strong today. She is quoted as preferring to perform live and in concert--she can't be topped.

It has been said she may be back in the studio recording again after a long hiatus and this is cause for celebration. In the interim, you have this CD and many others to enjoy (mainly numerous hits reissues). I for one will be very happy to hear her again and should she decide not to record, there are many unreleased gems in her diamond vault songbook. Her output is the most prolific of any singer and we need to see more new or unreleased Connie product.

A wonderful tribute with an better cover photo.

- Excellent tribute to Buddy Holly
This tribute has been released with various titles and different cover art several times, but always with the same tracks though not necessarily in the same order if Amazon's listings are correct (they usually are but not always). Therefore, if you've got any of the other releases (I remember Buddy Holly, Connie sings Buddy, Connie Francis sings Buddy Holly), you won't need this.

Connie was, of course, a contemporary of Buddy's so she knows a lot about these songs. While Connie is generally noted primarily as a ballad singer (most of her big hits were ballads), she could rock with the best of them when she chose to, as this tribute to Buddy confirms. Connie sticks to the basic arrangement of each song but sometimes slows the tempo. Connie's performances on all these songs is brilliant.

This is the third Buddy Holly tribute album to enter my CD collection and it certainly justifies its place along with Not Fade Away (Remembering Buddy Holly) (a various artists collection) and Skeeter Davis sings Buddy Holly/ Skeeter sings Dolly.
