- Flashback to preBeatles British rockThis will send shivers of nostalgia through the fifty-somethings who remember when Cliff and the Shadows were THE British act. The sound here is rough and energetic but catches the atmosphere of those small-venue concerts. The spoken remarks by the lads are engaging but the screaming fans can get a little annoying. The instrumental tracks by the Shadows are more enjoyable than Cliff's vocals. The special packaging, though interesting, is difficult to store. This album really is for those who remember those early days in the sixties . . . and I do!

- A glimpse back into timeI have always wondered what it was like to have been a Cliff fan when he started out. Well, that was until I heard a B' side song on one of his recent CD singles called 'I got a woman'. It took my breath away and I felt cheated that I missed out in this Rock and Roll business. The song was recorded live and you will find it hard to hear a Cliff song with more energy and excitement then this. After playing it repeatedly, I just had to buy the album it came from, Live at the ABC Kingston. Its starts of with The Shads performing like we know them best, with sheer class. It was also quite strange to hear their young voices, more evidence on how long they have all been going. Then Cliff was introduced to the stage and it was at this point I needed to wonder no more, the screams were like nothing else throughout Cliffs performance, he quite simply rocked and even as early as 1962 you could see how Cliff was starting to achieve his unique relationship with his fans. This album is a must for all Cliff fans, whether it is to reminisce about those days, or to have some kind if insight to what we sorely missed.
