- Half-Breed & Dark Lady: The Real DealListen Up: I own this import CD, and it IS the original Half-Breed and Dark Lady albums on one disc. Songs I never thought I'd find again, like "Just What I've Been Lookin' For", and her version of "The Long and Winding Road." I grew up listening to both of these albums, and they remain my personal favorites from her catalogue. If you like her 70's work, you owe it to yourself to get this one...a rare find.

- It's Cher! This cd is a budget cd of song songs from her MCA days. This is not the full cd by any matters. But I still enjoyed this cd a lot. If you are just starting out looking for older Cher material then try this one. But if you are looking for more rare material try several of her anthology cds that go into more detail---there are a lot. I bought this for the price and the simple collection of songs.

- Cher - Half BreedI was looking on Cherdirect.com and I found out that this is not the original Half Breed album. If you look at Cherdirect.com, in the music section they have the original Half Breed album (on CD) for sale.

- differentI use to own the album called "Half Breed". This is not the same cover as the album. These are not the same songs that were on the original album. This CD is very good, but if you want what you had when you had the album this is not it. The exact songs from the album are not available on one CD.

- Set Showcases Cher's Versatility......and both of these albums are prime examples of why critics beat her merciless with each review. Cher is not, for the most part, a singer/songwriter along the lines of Carol King or Carly Simon. But on the "Half Breed" portion of this double CD - the songs are pretty autobiographical. Song's like "Two People Clinging To A Thread" "This God Forsaken Day" and "The Greatest Song I Ever Heard" sound like they could have been written by her, describing her feelings for Sonny and their impending divorce. "Chastity Sun" is a beautiful ballad dedicated to her daughter, while "David's Song" was in referance to her boyfriend at the time David Paich. (From the band TOTO) "Dark Lady" was the best CHER album up to that point. Snuff Garrett put her in every kind of setting he could think of, and Cher pulled off each number to perfection. "Dark Lady" and "Train Of Thought" are perfect pop hits. "Miss Subway of 1952" is pure camp, "Dixie Girl" and "Just What I've Been Lookin' For" have shades of country to them, while "What'll I Do?" and "I Saw A Man And He Danced With His Wife" have the sound of Big Band. (The orchestrations and arrangements are very well done) If the critics had looked beyond the title Hits for both of these albums, and actually listened to the rest, maybe they would have discovered something they hadn't counted on. But even if they did, the rock/snobbery menatlity probably wouldn't have allowed it.
