"Foreigner" was the last of the original Cat Stevens albums that I purchased and after a 10 year wait I think it was worth it. Although not as powerful as "Teaser and the Firecat" nor as seamless as "Tea for the Tillerman" I found it much more thought provoking than "Buddah and the Chocolate Box", "Catch Bull at Four", "Izitso" and "Matthew and Son". The Suite has one of the best blends of guitar and piano that I've heard from recordings from the 70s. Even though Cat's pursuit of the truth is evident in the tracks it can still be enjoyed without pondering on each of the lyrics. "Foreigner Suite" and "The Hurt" are reminiscent of the profound lyrics and smooth melancholic melodies that he used with songs such as "Lady D'Arbanville" and "Wild World". This is a must for any Cat Stevens fan and at the very least makes outstanding driving music.

This is one of my favorite albums I must say... it has the best love song that has ever been written...the perfect thing to play to a loved one...

Now although this album doesn't have many tracks... the first tracks 18 minutes seems to somewhat pay back those other missing tracks. And it does it with style.

If I have five different versions on this album (The LP, Tape, Old CD Version and the New Limited Edition Pack version) then surly you aught to have one.

I am a huge Cat Stevens fan, and I can't stop listening to this album. Foreigner Suite is sort of like Bohemian Rhapsody was to Queen and Italian Restuarant to Billy Joel. It is genius in its own way, and I can't get over the last part of the suite. "Heaven mst've programmed you." The lyrics are amazing, this album is Cat at his finest.

I have been a Cat Stevens worshipper for thirty years,having said that though it is fair to say that Foreigner is his weakest set.I can still remember the shock I experienced when this album was first released in 1973. Listening to it some decades later,I appreciate that the album has it's moments,but this followed three classic albums- Tillerman,Teaser and Catch Bull-to say that Foreigner is not in the same ballpark is an understatement;it's not in the parking lot of the same ballpark. The meandering title track occupies the whole of side one,musically there are two or three excellent sections,his lyrical acumen seems to have deserted him however.If his earlier work had the appearence of being crafted and polished to perfection,this album seems to have been written during a coffee break.

Side Two isn't much better, the minor hit 'The Hurt' swirls nicely but is otherwise unremarkable. 'How Many Times' is a pale companion to earlier piano ballads. 'Later'is a dreadful attempt to sound funky- I always skip this song when I play the album. The final track '100 I Dream' has at last some of Cat's lyrical savvy and the melody is worthy-nowhere on the album though is there a Stevens song of genius,unlike his next record which at least contained the acoustic jewel,;C79'.

Look elsewhere for his real gems - ie Tillerman,Teaser and Catch Bull.Get this one if you are a Cat fanatic and a completist.

I am not a huge Cat Stevens fan. However, this is one of my favorite albums of all-time by any artist. As a matter of fact, it would probably be in my top ten. It has everything! Cat Stevens at his best!!! If you own only one Cat album (other than "hits" or "best of" collections), this is the one to get. I never tire of listening to this pop/rock masterpiece. I hear different things each time I listen to it and that has been for well over 20 years now. This is one of the first CDs I ever purchased. It is not only one of the best albums of the 70s, but one of the best of the entire rock/pop era. You must own this one! Musically superior to anything else he ever did and certainly to anything out these days. Lyrically haunting and thought-provoking. Musical poetry! He paints pictures with words on this one! Brilliant!!!!!
