- Bonnie Raitt in all her gloryA friend of mine asked me to recommend some Bonnie Raitt albums-of course I like them all-but this is one of three or four I felt are most fully realized in terms of group cohesion, balance of songs selected etc. Bonnie, Freebo and the gang are wonderful at making you laugh and especially at creating that blue mood: Songs like First Night Alone Without You and Run Like A Thief have me sniffling just at their mention! That said, it comes through the music that the band was in full-throttle boogie with this effort. If I didn't know better I would have said Bonnie was in love around the time this album was created. A most worthy addition to your listening pleasure.

- GroovyWell, that was just one word that came to mind. Of all Bonnie's albums, and there are plenty now, I come back to this one time after time. Songs like "Good Enough" and "Walk Out the Front Door" are definitely groovy enough to make you want to dress up in something from the seventies and dance rather embarrassingly. Just remember to tone it down for some of Bonnie's most aching ballads, like the impossibly perfect "Run Like a Thief", and the sumptuous, almost Streisand-esque "My First Night Alone Without You". "I'm Blowin' Away" is another one. It's hard to choose a favourite, but they all have that ability to tug on you and make you part of the song. I defy anyone not to sing along to just about every track, right up to the simple bar-room singalong of "Sweet and Shiny Eyes", the perfect ending to one of my favourite albums of all time.

- It shines like the stars above Laredo!I bought this cd because a friend sang "Bright and Shiny Eyes" to me and I loved it. The whole cd is great, soulful, fun. I play "Bright and Shiny Eyes" incessantly--it is wistful and would make anyone nostalgic for their own long-gone days.

- The Best of BonnieI have loved Bonnie Raitt for decades, and I have most of her albums. This one may be the best - because each song is not only a wonderfully written piece of music, but it is performed & recorded beautifully - especially great considering this was made in the mid-70's. Several poignant ballads ( I'm Blowing Away is one), and a number of hot blues tunes too make it a good mixture as well.....Grab it - you won't regret it, I know!

- This record got plenty of muscle, baby!Bonnie Raitt's HOME PLATE is a record with plenty of MUSCLE! From "Walk Out the Front Door" to "Sugar Mama," Bonnie knows how to really throw it down. She can break your heart, too. "Blowin' Away" is sweet and beautifully, plaintively arranged. Sometimes, Bonnie throws it down AND breaks your heart in the same stroke. "Pleasin' Each Other" will make your toes curl and the hair on your neck rise...Total goose flesh.
