- Absolute Best
Barry reaches pinnacle form with "If I Should Love Again." Schmaltzy? Forget it. The title track alone is worth the price of admission. Incredible production and arrangments. "If I Should Love Again," swelling and lush, is Barry's best single tune and most romantic album. I'm so glad to see it's on CD -- finally!

- Classic Manilow--romantic ballads and some beats
Lush melodies and sophisticated arrangements in the tradition of 'Could it Be Magic' are the factors why this CD is one of Barry's best. 'Old Songs'/If I Should Love Again'/'Somewhere Down the Road'/'No Other Love' are classic Manilow ballads. Also contains an obscure gem: 'Fools Get Lucky'. Three cuts are beats.

This is as good a value for your dollars as any of his greatest hits CDs, because even the non-hits in this CD are just as wonderful as the hits.

- Beautiful Music
This is the album for those of us who love Barry as a musician as much as we love him as a singer. Many times we tend to forget that Manilow is first, and foremost, an arranger and musician and those talents shine through on this album.

Songs such as "I Haven't Changed the Room," "Let's Take All Night to Say Goodbye," and the title track are masterfully done and showcase his musical talents!

I would highly recommend this for any Manilow fan!

- THE BEST BALLADS EVER
This is my favorite Barry Manilow CD ever! Actually, I was so excited to FIND it on CD. I have this in album form (albums, what are those?) It has several scratches on it from over playing. I can't wait to hear these love songs once again, especially the title track, "If I Should Love Again". If you want to listen to pure love songs and Barry at his best, then this is the CD for you.

- Nothing But Excellence Here!!!
Manilow's "If I Should Love Again" album is one that I consider to be his last great effort. Produced in 1981, it spawned three hits: "The Old Songs" - #9; "Let's Hang On" - #32; "Somewhere Down the Road" - #20.

Musically, the album is phenomenal. Of the ten tracks, all but two are ballads. The orchestration is full and not overdone; Manilow's vocals are stellar, as his piano playing. All of the ballads have melodies that are so well constructed that each one will leave you hanging, wanting more. Lyrically, each tune is very solid and poetically written. It's just a great album all the way around.

Aside from the hits, my favorite tunes are the title track and "I Haven't Changed the Room." The title track, written by Manilow, has the best piano solo of his career. Awesome chord changes, crescendos, voice leading - it is truly amazing. The other tune, "I Haven't Changed the Room" is just Manilow and his piano. A song, also written by Barry, is about a broken relationship in which the singer has left things the way they were so as not to forget the memories. Beautifully written and just over two minutes long, it breaks away from his power ballad style into a vehicle that simply expresses the words.

If you've enjoyed Manilow's music in the past and have not heard this album, this should be one of high priority. You will not be disappointed!
