- Deep Soul Gospel That Raised The BarIf you love the Rev. Al's best music from the 70's with the brilliant production of Willie Mitchell and the classic soul sounds of the Hi Rhythm Section then you must get this one. It's all there for Al Green to sing about his Saviour once again because he is re-united with his old friends. He didn't make one exactly like this again, with all these ingredients. Take, for example, the title song - melodic, easy and devotional gospel to lift your heart in worship. For the brilliant song, Power, he draws you into a new level of intimacy and confession as he sings "Sometimes I get a little lost, a little lost along the way", and as he tells the band to "bring it down slow, fellas ...". My only complaint is that it all goes by too fast. At this price you can't lose!

- Buy Green Now!This Green album is warm and bouncy. The tracks flow and have a personal electricity that exudes from Al's soul. Other great ones are One in A Million, Soul Survivor, Belle, and Higher Plane.

- A Great Diamond in the RoughI've been enjoying Al Green over the last year, and have collected several of his landmark 70s albums. This Gospel offering came out in 1985, and I purchased it due to my love of Al Green's early stuff without a knowledge of his numerous Gospel albums.
It was a stab in the dark but I've really enjoyed the upbeat, positive energy that comes out of this offering. This is the only gospel CD that Green did with his old producer Willie Mitchell, the mastermind behind his amazing run of hits in the 70s. The trademark horns and strings are there, along with a nice crisp snare drum from Steve Potts that does a fair job of imitating Green's former late drummer Al Jackson, with his "dry, clean snap" snare style. I'm looking forward to exploring more of Green's gospel work as the year goes on.
You don't even have to be Christian or into Gospel music to enjoy this energetic, life-affirming effort. The songs have pop sensibility, and are enjoyable for repeated listens.
